Get your SMS delivered to Brazil!

Brazil is a massive market and has always been problematic with regards to SMS delivery. Carriers either blocks international SMS or simply don’t support them. We’ve tried many solutions including SS7. Nothing really works well and is stable.

We are announcing today Nexmo local direct links to Brazil that will improve delivery and provide a stable alternative to the current existing routes. Beta clients who have been testing Nexmo local links have seen anything between 2x to 50x improvements in their conversion ratio!

The new direct links support delivery to ported numbers, don’t provide DLR, concatenated, binary and unicode are not supported. Message length is 157 characters. And finally sender id is a local short code such as 27199. Marketing, political and religious content is not allowed.

Get your SMS delivered to Turkey!

Turkey is one of these markets where SS7 does not work properly and can be expensive. Vodafone is filtering on alphanumeric sender and local numbers in national and international format…and keep changing the rules of its filter! Turkcell filters across the board and has imposed a very high interworking fees on SS7.

But Turkey is market that can not be ignored! It is one of the fasted growing mobile markets in Europe with over 70m mobile phones.

With Nexmo new local direct links, you can improve delivery and reduce cost. Success ratio is constantly over 95% and DLR ratio is at 100%! If you are sending sensitive content such as password delivery or important alerts than you will see you conversion ratio improved. But that is not all! Price has been reduced to EUR 0.021/SMS across the board. The local link is fully featured including handset DLR and portability support, except the sender that will be replaced by “NXSMS”.

Introducing Nexmo QoD Analytics: New insights into Quality of Delivery

Last December, we opened our internal logs to help you follow the life of a message from the cloud. Today, we are introducing a new report to measure QoD (Quality of Delivery) of SMS. In real time!

This is a another bold step towards disrupting an industry driven by price but without much data on quality.

This new report includes:

  • Final state of a message: Delivered, Un-delivered, Failed, Expired…
  • Number of message submitted
  • Number of message sent

And two QoD ratios:

  • R1: “Success Ratio” is the percentage of message received by the handset
  • R2: “DLR Ratio” is the percentage of message with a delivery receipt

R1 depends on external parameters such as phone is offline or out of reach but is an important indicator of how your traffic is performing. R2 tells you how Nexmo is performing and we can influence it by providing the optimal path for delivery.

Keep in mind the figures will evolve throughout the day and you will get the final picture only after 72 hours - maximum expiration period for a message. For instance, if you see a fairly low R2 ratio on a given network we would suggest to look at the same network 2 days before. Delivery Receipt are not a perfect real time measure for many reasons.

If you don’t have these skills in-house, a great alternative is to consider hiring a contractor. We’re proud to announce we’ve partnered with oDesk, the largest and fastest growing online work platform, to help you find qualified, experienced developers to assist you with your custom project of any size.

Contest - CloudMine & Nexmo Just Make It Easy

CloudMine makes it easy for mobile developers to build a rich mobile application that syncs data across devices, communicates with external web services and transparently authenticates users - without having to build the server infrastructure or write a single line of backend code.

And you already know that Nexmo makes it easy for developers to send and receive SMS messages, and do it internationally, without having to interface with multiple aggregators, and all the while getting wholesale prices due to our direct to carrier model.

It really seems like it would be easy to build something that combines the two.

I’m sure the hardest part is going to be picking the best CloudMine/Nexmo application - it’s too bad we only have one Galaxy Nexus to give away.

So what are you waiting for - go hit up the CloudMine and Nexmo documentation, build an app, then show it off on your new Galaxy Nexus.
